I Warned You Not To Go Out Tonight (Extended Version)!

Check out RetroSynth's all-new extended video they created for I Warned You Not To Go Out Tonight - taken from my debut S/T album! Using footage from William Lustig's 1980 sleazy classic Maniac, which is the main inspiration for the track, they created a two-fer trailer including the spoken word warning from my most-recent Gladiatori dell Apocalisse EP on Cineploit. Check it out here.

My all-new cover of John Carpenter's Halloween Theme has gotten some nice write-ups this past week! Make sure to check out Trash Mutant's review of both the track and video here, and head on over to That's Not Current for an all-new interview here.

Last, but not least, I uploaded my Halloween Theme to my SoundCloud earlier this week. Check it out here and don't forget to download the track via my Bandcamp page here.

Halloween!

Here we go: As Halloween's coming closer I decided to release a little treat for my fellow horror fans - a cover of John Carpenter's iconic 1978 Halloween Theme!

I've been having a love affair with this track since the first time I saw the opening titles of this 1978 horror classic and it was such a treat working out both the arrangements and the video.

The video premiered this evening (6 P.M. CET) via The 80's Guy and, just like my cover version, is based on the original (in this case the 1978 trailer), with some changes.

The track is available via my Bandcamp only, and at name-your-price, so make sure to check it out here and the video here.

In other news I'm pretty thrilled to share that Vestra Pictures just announced that their coming documentary VHS Lives will be released on both limited-edition VHS and DVD this year! They also announced that they have secured a distributor for this documentary and that it will see a release on DVD and VOD in early 2017.

A fun look into the collector scene and other things VHS, the documentary features interviews with Troma's Lloyd Kaufman, director Jörg Buttgereit, Thomas Hodge aka The Dude Designs, and me, talking mainly about Videogram and how VHS left its mark on me and my music.

Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI!

Happy 30th anniversary to Tom McLoughlin's Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI, released on August 1st back in 1986. Like I recently stated in my interview with Return to Camp Blood: A Friday the 13th Fan Podcast, it's the horror genre's first postmodern slasher movie, years prior to Wes Craven's Scream franchise, not only making it stand out as an installment in the Friday the 13th franchise, but rightfully earning it a place in horror movie history as well.

Film School Rejects wrote an interesting article on this, pretty much agreeing with my sentiments, so make sure to head on over there and read it in full. You can listen to my interview with Return to Camp Blood: A Friday the 13th Fan Podcast here, and make sure to give them a like on their official Facebook page here.

Produced by Vestra Pictures, the documentary is slated for release in early 2017. More info via their IMDb page here.

Happy Alien Day!

Hey, it's April 26, and horror/sci-fi fans are celebrating LV-426, so what better time to remind you of The Eighth Passenger off my 2014 S/T album! The 1979 classic, and James Cameron's 1986 sequel, are both personal faves, and the track is actually inspired by the original theatrical trailer.

Copyright issues prohibited me from using the trailer for a video, but I did edit one for the Lunchmeat VHS Fanzine VHS last year, using footage from the public domain Galaxy Invader. The VHS is sold out, but a digital version is available via VHX.com here.

The Living Dead of Film Scores

Head on over to Danish site TONEwood for a mammoth interview/write-up on horror soundtracks they did with me and vocalist Ustumallagam (30 Silver Coins / Denial of God).

We offer our own takes on the appeal of the genre; John Carpenter, Fabio Frizzi and Tangerine Dream gets mentioned and there's even a nice write-up on Call Me Greenhorn's album L'Isola dei Morti Viventi! Read it in full here.

Le Erotici Notti di Emanuelle

Time for a new video! The Le Erotici Notti di Emanuelle off my Pre-Cert LP/CD has nothing to do with Just Jaeckin's 1974 softcore feature starring Sylvia Kristel, as it is a tribute to the Italian-produced exploitation series starring Laura Gemser, mainly Joe D'Amato's 1977 Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals.

The video was pretty fun to do. Using footage from Joe D'Amato's x-rated Erotic Nights of the Living Dead (aka Sexy Nights of the Living Dead and Queen of the Zombies), I went for a VIPCO trailer kind of approach and lucked out as the pacing of the movie really fits the track. In order to make it PG for YouTube I did have to spend some additional time doing creative edits though, but I'm pretty happy with the final results. Check it out above or on my official YouTube channel.

In other news I'm having a t-shirt sale on Teepublic! For the next couple of days all tees are $14, plus postage. A total of thirteen designs, including the Vestron Video tribute logo, you can get yours here.

Acid Washed Remix (update) and The Mutilator!

First off, check out this all-new The Mutilator t-shirt I got via VHS Dreams on Teepublic! Goes nicely with the Arrow Video DVD/Blu-Ray combo I recently got. The Arrow release is (once again, I gotta add) a fan boy's wet dream with a beautiful uncut transfer and tons of bonus goodies, and the t-shirt features unused concept art. Check them out here and here.

EDIT: Seems like I'm not the only fan of this slasher classic. The brilliant Dangerous Minds just posted a mammoth review-slash-Buddy Cooper interview on their website. Check it out here.

In other news I just received the all-new Acid Washed remix. I've given it plenty of spins throughout the day and it sounds amazing! This French DJ duo most recently collaborated with Moby (link below), and listening to the final results I can share that it's very Camp Blood-esque, very dance floor friendly and with a healthy dose of John Carpenter injected into it! Me and Cineploit are currently working out both the artwork and physical details, so stay tuned for more info!

Acid Washed

Here's some exciting news for you to check out: DJ duo Acid Washed just included Voorhees Stomp off my Camp Blood EP on their most recent radio show on Heartbeats. A pleasant surprise indeed, I can't thank the guys enough for sharing my music. Turns out they're fans of this project and have spun the EP on several of their performances. Check out their official Facebook page here and listen to the show here.

The duo most recently remixed Moby's Almost Loved - receiving praise from none other than Mute Records - and although I don't wanna give too much away at the moment, there is a Videogram remix coming later this year. Stay tuned for more info on that one!

In other news, UK's The Scream Review recently gave my Pre-Cert LP/CD a track-by-track review. Calling it an "absolute buy" and with an "entirely unique track list", you can read it in full here.

TGiF!

Hey, more Teepublic tees in the wild! Check out this photo I received from drummer Jamie, aka The Jimmy C, sporting the Vestron Video red-on-black xerox logo! The Aussie multi-instrumentalist has graced many Videogram recordings, most recently performing the roto tom solo on Voorhees Stomp (Extended) on my Camp Blood 10" pic disc EP, but he's got plenty of releases available on Off the Hip (digital via Bandcamp among others), so check him out and give his Facebook page a like here. This and other t-shirts are available via my Teepublic page here.

U.S. podcasters Josh and Liam, aka Cinepunx, just shared a nice selection of Videogram cuts on their most recent episode, Talking About Ourselves. At some 90+ minutes in length, the show focus mainly on movies, with this and that thrown in for good measure. It's a free download so check it out here.

While on the subject, Cinepunx also offer a nice selection of t-shirts -  my personal fave pictured left - so give their Facebook page a like here and make sure to check them out!

For a bit of more local news, I was recently informed that nordic online store CDon.com now offers both my Pre-Cert LP/CD and Camp Blood 10" EP on import. The chain covers all of Scandinavia, so make sure to check it out here.

To wrap things up while on that subject, I've updated my Stores, Distributors & Mailorder note on Videogram's Facebook page, adding some new stores (and updated some), including importCDs.comMerchbar and Reverberation Vinyl - the latter sharing a cool Facebook video of the Camp Blood EP playing in-store! Check it out here and find your store here!

Hot on the heels of the announcement of my all-new Pre-Cert t-shirt I received an email from Teepublic informing me that starting today they're having a sale on all my designs. To commemorate this I decided to add three new designs exclusive to this sale: Vestron Video Yellow, Vestron Video Blue and Pre-Cert Red. The sale lasts until January 29th. Check it out here.

EDIT: Videogram tees in the wild! Check out Camera Viscera sporting the Lunchmeat VHS artwork by Loud Comix' head honcho Jamie Vayda! Many thanks for the support! Give them a like on Facebook here and check out Jamie's work here.

An update on the David Bowie / Friday the 13th connection: Earlier this week Friday the 13th: The Franchise decided to run my tidbit of trivia regarding the Aladdin Sane LP showing up in Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part 6. Read it here.

Pre-Cert t-shirt!

Check out the all-new t-shirt design I just added to my Teepublic page! Based on Milan Pad's artwork for my Pre-Cert LP/CD on Cineploit - a tribute to Lucio Fulci's 1981 video nasty The House by the Cemetery - the tee turned out great and is available in a nice assortment of colors.

Check it out here and for the next 72 hours you'll get it for $14 (plus postage)!

Updates and Tributes!

Well, with the Tall Man himself, Angus Scrimm, passing away at 89 this Sunday I figured I'd share the Silver Sphere video once again. The 1979 cult classic Phantasm, directed by Don Coscarelli, is a personal favorite of mine, a truly unique horror movie, and the soundtrack is just amazing. I'm pretty sure neither Don or Angus heard the track or saw the video, but I'm glad I and Cineploit managed to release this tribute while Angus was still alive.

With the (unexpected) passing of David Bowie, Videogram supporters Friday the 13th: The Film Franchise posted an article on the unusual ties Mr Bowie had with the iconic Friday the 13th movies.

The article - as well as the highly-recommened Crystal Lake Memories documentary - covers producer Frank Mancuso, Jr's fandom of Bowie's music, so much so that every production starting with Friday the 13th Part III was filmed under a Bowie song title alias.

One of my personal faves, Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, was filmed as Aladdin Sane, and, for a bit of added trivia, I posted the above photo on my official Facebook page, clearly showing the LP pictured right during the girls' "Camp Blood" card game. Read the article here.

In other news, Videogram supporters Trash Mutant just published an all-new review of my Pre-Cert LP/CD.

Calling it a "satisfying listen from start to finish" and "the type of stuff that could make a good movie even better", they sum up my Cineploit debut as a "very stylish, well-produced and consistent album".

Read it in full here, make sure to give them a "like" on Facebook here and while you're at it, read the interview we did back in March of 2015 here.

While on the subject of my records, I recently got the exciting news that my Pre-Cert album is charting on HHV.de's Top 100 Film and Soundtrack Albums in Germany. Turns out that my Camp Blood 10" pic disc EP is as well, placing at #50, and charting at #25 on their Top 100 10" list as an added bonus! Again, vielen dank Deutschland!

To finish up this update I received my Vestron Video logo tribute t-shirt yesterday. I created a storefront over at Teepublic thanks to Joey at Camera Viscera, and having checked them out myself I can assure you they offer great quality t-shirts, both the fabric and prints!

So far I've got nine designs available, featuring tributes to various VHS distributors, as well as the brilliant Lunchmeat VHS Fanzine artwork courtesy LOUD COMIX' illustrator Jamie Vayda.

You can order yours here, but I've also added various print and color examples on my official Facebook page here. Check them out!

Happy New Year!

Here we go: New year, new video! Check out my all-new effort for Horror Express off the Pre-Cert album on Cineploit. The 1972 British/Spanish co-production starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing is a personal fave and is actually based on the same sci-fi novel as John Carpenter's The Thing (John W. Campbell's Who Goes There?). The movie is in the public domain, meaning you can download it for free via Archive.org etc., so make sure to check it out!

Got some additional news since my last post. First off, check out this cool t-shirt I got from Cinepunx! A tribute to Lucio Fulci's 1979 video nasty classic Zombie Flesh-Eaters (known in the U.S. simply as Zombie or Zombie 2), you can get yours via their official Facebook page here, and make sure to tell them I sent ya!

Towards the end of December I received the exciting news that my Pre-Cert album had placed at number 75 on German distributor HHV's Top 100 film and soundtrack albums, and the latest news is that it has climbed up to number 60! Just amazing. Vielen dank Deutschland!
EDIT: I was just informed that the album jumped up to #59! Again, vielen dank!

For those in the U.S. looking to score physical copies of either Pre-Cert or Camp Blood, Dusty Groove have them in stock, ready to ship out! Summing up my Cineploit debut as "cool 80s sound that really feels like the music from some straight-to-video flick", you can get the LP here, the CD here, the LP/CD combo here, and the Camp Blood EP here.
EDIT II: I was just informed that the Camp Blood EP has sold out! Insane! Keep ordering and they'll restock it!

For those in Europe, One Way Static have both records back in stock but they are already running low, so make sure to act fast on that one. You'll find Pre-Cert here and Camp Blood here.
